Hiking Mt. Timpanogos

So our goal this summer was so spend as much time as we could with each other, because in the fall and spring I only see matt like for one day out of the week. We are both very busy and Summer's are what we live for. We have always wanted to hike Timpanogos and go to the cave. It was a hard hike and lots of switchbacks, but it is really worth it if you haven't been.

Tons of water
We ate lunch at a campsite and Matt told me to do a model pose, wasn't so attractive;) ha ha.
This is how much water there was coming down the mountain in the rivers. It was kind of scary.
We noticed that there was a big pack of snow and a clearing of trees. So we think there was either a rock slide or an avalanche!? Kind of cool. This is looking up.
This is looking down the hill.

We like learning about the forest!

The light outside was so bright after we came out of the cave! This is my annoyed, my eyes hurt look.

I didn't realize how many pictures I put up of me (you will notice). Sorry, but this one shows the staligmites in the background.
They can grow from the ground and from the ceiling. No one knows how they can grow from the ground

There were a lot of deep dark holes leading to other caves very creepy.
You can see the staligmites are broken off. People have touched them in the past so it can't grow anymore
To grow from the bottom up takes millions of years
Lots of pools of water
You can see how pitch black it was
This was the light we could see when it was almost over, it was so comforting to know we were getting out and to see light!

This is how high we were up it felt like were on the very top of the mountains

  4. It's been a long time since I did that hike, but it really is neat to think all those things are so close. It looks like you and Matt are good at seizing the moment. Hope you get to see each other more this semester?

  5. Oh, that brought back good memories of hiking Timpanogas when you were young. I think Dad pulled the red wagon with you in it up the hill, Em. I love, love, love, the photo of you two looking down into the valley. (I think it is the 10th one down on this post.) Beautiful scenery and beautiful couple!

  6. Aw shucks. I have wanted to do this for a long time but needed someone to do it with. You should have told us you were going and we would have gone with you! Oh well. Would you want a do-over? :)
