Our First Camping Trip: Vernon Resevoir Campground

So I haven't blogged for a whole year. Let's just hope being a stay at home mom now will change that?? I can now focus on my family which is a great feeling, since I have been working hard since Matt and I got married. I can focus on blogging and keeping up. A LOT has happened since last year. This past year has been the busiest eventful year yet. Matt got excepted to Creighton Law school, we moved to Omaha Nebraska, I found out I was pregnant, Matt broke his leg, his first semester in Law school and first Finals with him being on heavy medications. I got a piano accompanying job at Abraham Lincoln High School in Iowa at thus time as well, just after being sick in my first trimester of pregnancy. We flew home for Christmas, I competed with the High School Show Choir in their competition season (which is HUGE deal back East by the way) think real life GLEE like million dollar competition shows and kids being in show choirs starting in elementary), I taught piano as well, Matt recovering during winter, I am getting uncomfortably huge, only to get to Matt BARELY walking again to us having our baby right before Matt's second semester finals. Max was frank breech and I needed a c-section. My mom flew out to help us and so did Matts sister Krissie. Then we had to pack up and leave because Matt was offered an internship for the summer in Utah and here we are....now I know why I never updated the blog:).

Anywho..back to our first camping trip last April!! Matt had just graduated and for his present he wanted camping gear and to go camping (Ha ha I laugh because this is what I wanted but coaxed him into wanting this himself for graduation so I could go:)). We needed to do something cheap and fun! I researched free camgrounds in Utah (which is hard to find and not in a barren not fun place).
I found Vernon Resevoir campground. It looked good to me in pictures but you never know. It was close to Bountiful (just past Tooele) but enough to get away. I wanted to fish and it had a Resevoir close!! The other funny creepy thing is there was a campground that I was thinking of going to close by. When I researched it on the internet it was where Josh powell went with his kids when Susan Powell went missing.... CREEPY! For obvious reasons we didnt go to that campground. I also didn't mention to Matt this little bit of info I still don't think he knows:).

On the way to the campground, there were plaques with history about the Pony Express and the railroad. It was really funny every time I would see a plaque while we were driving I would say, "look a plaque!" (I love to read them all) Matt sees it and he drives extra fast passed them. Hence I am the only one out reading:).

Jealous of my pink pants?!?! Who doesn't wear pink pants camping?
um, it was so perfect!!! the Resevoir was right next to our campground. Nobody was there because it was the last week in April. It was gorgeous. I was worried it would be in the desert, but the mountains were gorgeous! It was a little cold, windy and rainy but not bad at all.

We even had a fire pit and picnic table for FREE!! you don't get that with free campgrounds

 Our home for three days

These two pictures above are so funny to me. Matt and I had imagined different camping activities. I got our tent all set up to play games and Matt wanted to play with the fire and he did the ENTIRE time:). Ha ha such a boy. I was so excited to cuddle up in blankets and play and play games, but Matt wasn't excited. So we ended up hanging out by the fire which was actually SO fun and because it was chilly.

Matt mad breakfast muffins that were so yummy! Good thing we brought them all because we forgot our tinfoil dinners premade, so these are what we ate the whole time.:)

We DID catch a fish!!! After much unlucky fishing and rain.
The ducks were everywhere so annoying and in the way. I am glad Matt caught the fish because he was trying so hard.

look how pretty the sunset!! roasting marshmellows yum!! I think I ate a whole bag. This is when we heard coyotes howling so close I thought I was going to literally die!!!

near death experience!! a spark floated on my jacket and burned a hole hate it when that happens!

ready to go home!! I look amazingly refreshed considering there was a drunken party across the way that was loud the whole night!! It was fun though!
