What's in Omaha?!?!

It was so fun exploring a little more in Omaha and setting up our house. There is a botanical garden like 500 feet from our townhouse. We get in free because the property where we live was sold to the gardens. I went while Matt was studying. It was very hard getting used to Matt being gone all day and me alone at home looking for a job. It was fun being a wife staying at home though:). There is a little train set-up at the gardens. It is really cool. Trains are really big in Omaha. It is one of the biggest train depot throughout the U.S. So they did this display that winds through trees.

 Tons of birds
 Beautiful butterflies

 cool sculptures

 courtyard
Being a stay at home wife with the house cleaned and ready, so fun!
Matt is cool he got new glasses, now he looks like a Law student

I found a FREE piano on craigslist. It came with all this piano music and books and metronome. Perfect condition too. I Love it and finally have room for a piano!!

Weird sculpture thing in Council Bluffs, IA

Old church on Creighton campus, there are old churches EVERYWHERE! Tons of different churches too!
Trying out all the yummy food!
Kenflick Park is right by the botanical Lauretzen Gardens. It has trains on display. We loved this info plaque because it talks about Ogden, UT and the connection of the railroad from East to West.

View from the park and by our house. There is a bridge over the Missouri River

A squirrel on Creighton's Campus, we love the squirrels here! Fat, long and some are black!
We went with some friends to Old Market downtown and walked around. There are tons of shops that have tons and tons of thrift items. It's very fun to look around. We went down to the basement and saw this creepy guy. No one was down there either, so we went straight upstairs too scary for us:).
We found a huge sword and some Machete's!! You can find anything in these stores
Old creepy guy just hanging out

Big "O" guy that moves his head

We also got to slide down two slides on cardboard. You go really fast and is a popular place at night! Here is a video of a friend going on it.
We loved that there were lots of turkeys here just walking around

Matt also had to go golfing it was a beautiful morning and his golf ball got stuck in the golf cart!

Welcome to Omaha!!

Before I get started, can I just mention that packing and moving is the worst thing ever?!?! We had our nephew Kyle and Ryan help us clean, move, and pack. Matt's sister Krissie came to help as well as my mom. Matt's friend Tyler also came. We got a lot of help and it still seemed like we would never get it done, but we somehow did! I remember seeing my mom for the last time and crying as we drove away. So sad. We stayed over at Matt's sister Amy's house the last night which was fun.
Here are the dark skies we saw on our road trip. The drive is kind of fun to do, seeing the landscapes.

I am glad Matt worked for Penske and he has driven the trucks before. We also got a good deal on a truck phew!

Lots of these to keep Matt awake.
Tyler Matt's friend drove out with us and drove behind us in our car the whole way. It was so nice of him and made it a little more fun! Tyler was going to go to Creighton Law School also but got into BYU Law school last minute, he was coming to help us and to sell his townhouse he bought. When we got to Omaha it was fun to explore the city. It was not what we expected. Omaha is in lots of bluffs or hills it is NOT flat. IT is also a HUGE city, not small like I imagined.
Creighton Law School. Apparently this lady didn't want her picture taken.
Walking around Old Market downtown, a historic district.

Darn it! Tyler's visit was so quick we had to take him to the airport! First visitor to Omaha

Of course, we didn't unpack everything and decorate that day we got there. These pictures are a couple weeks after we settled in. We bought a townhouse which is in "little Utah" a townhouse community where most everyone is from Utah and LDS. Everyone kept telling us to live here it is so tightknit and the townhouses are very very cheap!! We feel so lucky! We went from 500 square feet to 1300 square feet. We were in heaven with all the space we got! Now we just need visitors! We are 5 hours away from Nauvoo?!?! We were also going to think about buying Tyler's townhouse, but Village Green complex would not let us I was not very happy because I thought we could pick which townhouse we wanted. Maybe buy Tyler's and sell ours? It worked out though because one of our good friends moved into Tyler's Townhouse. He sold it to them, and guess what?? They were 1st year Law students as well!! The Elder's Quorum were also nice to show up and help us move. The people in our complex are SO nice. We have loved it here.

A walk-in closet!!! Never had one of those! Dream come true!
